| Graduate Medical Education| Resident Programs | Medical Students Goals and Objectives: Following the completion of the First Year of the PM&S 36 program, the podiatric resident will have attained competence in all aspects of podiatric medical knowledge, skills and professional attitudes to supplement a well rounded residency in Clinical Podiatric Medicine. The First Year will provide knowledge in basic medical sciences and designated clinical techniques as they relate to the lower extremity. It is also designed to introduce the podiatric resident to non-podiatric surgery as well as podiatric surgery of the forefoot and selective mid and rearfoot surgical procedures. Following the completion of the 2nd Two Yrs, the podiatric resident will have attained the knowledge, skills and professional attitude competencies in all aspects of Podiatric Surgery of the forefoot, midfoot, rearfoot and ankle. The PM&S 36 program will provide the podiatric resident with exposure to the other surgical sciences such as Orthopedics, Pediatric Orthopedics, Emergency Orthopedic/Podiatric Traumatology and Vascular Surgery. Additional clinical medical rotations in Infectious Diseases/Internal Medicine, Advanced Radiographic Imaging, Clinical Pathology Presentation/Symposia and Anesthesia will provide the PM&S 36 resident with the advanced medical and surgical aspects of clinical patient care. The PM&S 36 Program is structured to meet standard requirements and guidelines for approved podiatric medical and surgical residencies by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education and the American Podiatric Medical Association; to be able to sit for qualification with the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine. The PM&S 36 program is recognized by the ABPS, ABPOPPM, ACFAS, and ACFAOM.
