Graduate Medical Education | Medical Students General Information for Medical Students (continued): Dress Code: All students must wear white jackets. Male students will wear a dress shirt and tie. Exceptions to this rule will be made only when a student is on a service that requires wearing a scrub suit. Length of Services: All services must be scheduled for a minimum of one month. Only Radiology and Anesthesia may be scheduled as two week rotations. Hours of Work: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or as designated by the service's resident or attending physician. Scheduling of Services: The scheduling of services is arranged through the Medical Education Office in conjunction with the various departments. Rotations are filled on a first-serve basis. Please contact Shari Hunt at (248) 615-7293 to schedule all rotations. Obtaining Schedules and Reporting for Duty: The Extern Schedule includes weekend, night and H&P; assignments. Schedules are typed monthly and may be obtained from the Medical Education Office, extension 8224. The first day of your rotation you will report to Shair Hunt in Medical Education at 8 a.m. Surgical Rotations: ALL Surgical rotations require students to attend an in-service on scrub procedures. You will be told this when you set up your rotation. The scrub procedure class is at 6 a.m. in the main O.R. on the third floor; you will report to Barb Garcia. Students who do not show up for the scrub procedure class will NOT be able to start their rotations. <
