BOTSFORD GENERAL HOSPITAL GIFT SHOP REOPENS

Farmington Hills, Michigan, July 14, 2000 -- Botsford General Hospital will launch its renovated gift shop with a grand opening on July 17 at 11:45 a.m.

"We plan to introduce employees, physicians, visitors and the community to our new shop and services with a week-long series of specials and prize drawings," said Debbie Collins, Gift Shop supervisor.

The Gift Shop, which will now be managed as a hospital department rather than as an entirely Volunteer entity, will continue to be located at the main lobby. Botsford volunteers will provide support for shop operations.

Revenues generated through the Gift Shop will be directed to projects named by the hospital's Fund Development Department. "Initially, funds will be directed to the campaign supporting our Emergency Department expansion," said Margo Gorchow, Botsford Health Care Continuum Corporate Administrator for Development "As the hospital's needs evolve, gift shop proceeds can be redirected to support those needs," she said.

Collins managed shop operations during the transition from the Botsford Guild, since dissolved, to the hospital. She also was involved in the redesign and restocking of the shop.  "We will stock those items which are frequently requested by hospital visitors. Our objectives will be  to provide items that meet the needs of our customers and move quickly from our shelves." Initially, the gift shop inventory will include the top 20 new paperback books, a selection of magazines, CDs, chocolates, jewelry, gifts and flowers. Birthday, get well, baby and custom gift baskets will be available.

The shop will also serve as a "one stop shopping site" for hospital employees. Services previously available in the Human Resources office will be consolidated with the Gift Shop services for maximum employee convenience.  These employee services include discounted tickets for theaters and other entertainment attractions, hospital logo items, film developing and gift certificates for area restaurants, major retailers and convenience stores.

The Gift Shop will be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 7p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The Botsford Health Care Continuum is an integrated system of care which includes Botsford General Hospital, the Botsford Physician Network, Community Emergency Medical Service, the Botsford Continuing Care Corporation and the Botsford Center for Health Improvement.
